RDIF monitoring visit

A monitoring team from RDIF Secretariat interacted with the marginalised and excluded communities, and the partner organisations of two projects in Chitwan and Nawalparasi in late November 2011. Nepal Chepang Association (NCA) and Rural Women Development Centre (RWDC), which participated in in the interaction, are implementing inclusion-themed projects.
Mugu sees results of advocacy and awareness

A women’s advocacy group in Rara VDC of Mugu district, mid-west Nepal, exerted pressure on the government staff to deliver services efficiently. In another case, the communities of Rowa VDC are planning to announce their VDC as a non-open defecation area by early December. A Forest User Committee of Ruga VDC was accused of misusing the royalty. After a public hearing, the committee made a commitment to recovering the amount as early as possible.
Stepping towards sustainable peace

While the much-needed relief and rehabilitation may take time to come by, interactive activities among conflict victims and stakeholders have helped creating an environment conducive to restoring peace, social cohesion and reconciliation at the local level.
Human rights class in Jajarkot

Higher secondary students of 11 schools benefitted from RDIF’s education programme on human rights. Students are even willing to spend extra time at school to enhance their knowledge through an informal mechanism of learning, which would not have been possible if they had confined themselves to the prescribed books.
Learning from others

Members of women advocacy groups, known as Mahila Shakti Kendras in far-west Nepal, along with the staff and members of SWEET Nepal went to Lucknow in India as part of an exposure visit in October. Altogether 14 people, including nine female interacted with Sahabhagi Sikshan Kendra (SSK), an NGO working in Hindi-speaking states of India.
